A walk through Salzburg’s old town with tips for breaks

Promenade with a panoramic view: My perfect morning in Salzburg

A perfect day starts of course with an extended breakfast. Our guests take it obviously on site, in their hotel, where they are pampered with fine regional specialties. When I’m free of any obligations, I start from Weisse Taube at Chiemseegasse and pay a visit to “220 Grad” coffee shop. After some tasty refreshment, we take the stairway to Nonnberg Abbey and return via Mönchsberg and the fortress to Toscaninihof. A path that offers several panoramic views at once!

Lunch break chez Franz: meals in the Restaurant Triangel

At noon, I like to go to Franz, Restaurant Triangel – my very personal recommendation! There are actually always plenty of guests and food is of course excellent, too. They serve Austrian delicacies with mostly regional ingredients, often from organic farming. The cozy tavern atmosphere makes even Salzburg newcomers feel at home. And there is a third reason why I like the Triangel so much: the innkeeper Franz Gensbichler is not just an excellent host; he learned in my parent’s establishment and looked after me when I was still in the kindergarten.

Relaxed city tour in the afternoon

After lunch, I stroll through the streets and lanes of Salzburg. From the Triangel, I choose the way via St. Peter Cemetery to St. Peter Bake House where I buy delicious bread. Via Kapitelplatz, I head to the famous Café Tomaselli – during summer, I like to take there a solid iced coffee from kiosk. What’s the secret behind it? Just try it out for yourself on site!

Fit for the evening with a power nap

After a long day in the city, I have a short power nap in the hotel. Afterwards, I’m fit for the evening commencing with an Aperitif at DIVINOTINTO. This Spanish pub offers a large selection of excellent wines and is worth a longer visit. For dinner, I move along to the Restaurant “Flavour“. This establishment situated on the other side of the Salzach River can be reached from the hotel within a few minutes. The particular: Here you can’t just enjoy excellent food but also conclude the evening later on in an atmospheric manner – then music gets louder in this smokers’ pub.

Finger food & Bar at Carpe Diem

If I don’t stay in the “Flavour”, I like to have a drink at “Carpe Diem”. This gourmet restaurant with fine finger food and a stylish bar is open until 1am.
