Explore Vienna on the bike

Wake up with the city

Even for those who enjoy a lie-in on holiday, an early morning bike ride to the nearby Schönbrunn Palace is worth getting up for. The cycle path leads to the palace right from the hotel. From there cycle through the large park, which is practically a forest, to the Gloriette and watch the city as it wakens. As a Viennese native I love starting the day there. Cycle back to the hotel and enjoy our magnificent local, organic breakfast, which is also served in the garden during summer.

Once refreshed, cycle through the seventh district into the centre. Our Green City Map provides information about green shopping, green dining and excellent tips on the topic of a green lifestyle. This adds a little extra onto the short journey into the centre. For lunch I recommend “Motto am Fluss”, one of my favourite restaurants in the city. Stylish yet not too fancy, a clever concept yet not too complicated, by the water yet still in the city centre. Enjoy a light lunch – but not too much – since you should visit one of the city’s fantastic coffee houses and sample a Viennese pastry. Luckily you will be travelling by bike to burn everything off!

Vienna – a city of contrasts

Spend your morning in Vienna’s modern seventh district with its small boutiques and unusual shops, then spend the afternoon in imperial Vienna. Experience the flair of bygone days in the city centre – this is even available indoors during bad weather! The Imperial Furniture Collection (Hofmobiliendepot) provides a detailed exhibition of the life of Habsburg family and especially Empress Elisabeth, better known as Sisi. Following this, it’s time to visit the Naschmarkt market with a short stop at an original Viennese coffee house. My recommendation: The Café Museum en route to the Naschmarkt. Lovingly refurbished, lots of original ideas introduced and above all, delicious Viennese pastries. The Naschmarkt attracts with irresistable scents and wonderful products – a variety of spices and little delicacies arouse the senses. Why not indulge in a little treat? Afterwards, travel back to the hotel – by bike of course.

Dinner in all variations

After a day of enjoying treats and nibbles, it is worth paying a visit to the lively Spittelberg area. This area is close to the hotel and right in the middle of the action. The vast number of small pubs serve cuisine to suit any taste. Simply indulge further…

For me, eating, drinking, cuisine and enjoyment are terms that are synonymous with Viennese cooking. The local dishes and Austrian wines are known around the world for their high quality. For anyone wanting to combine culture and cuisine I recommend a visit to the Burgtheater followed by a tasty meal at theVestibül restaurant situated in the same building.

In these vestibules to which the name relates – the entrance for the Emperor’s coach and adjoining marble hall – the building’s history is combined with excellent cuisine to create a unique ambience.

Go to sleep with a clear conscience

The perfect day requires an excellent night’s sleep. Here you can sleep with a clear conscience since our zero-energy balance guarantees responsible use of energy. The hotel’s quiet yet central location also contributes to this!
