The perfect way to start the day<\/h3>\n

A perfect day in Nuremberg starts with the delicious and scrumptious breakfast buffet at Hotel Klughardt where we will go the extra mile to make sure your day starts just the way you like it. After breakfast, you can take the tram or ride one of our bikes to Nuremberg\u2019s city centre which will take you only a few minutes. In the centre, a city tour will take you to all of Nuremberg\u2019s highlights.
\nAt square St Lorenz, St Lorenz Church (St Lawrence\u2019s Church) is a must-see. It is regarded one of the most beautiful gothic sacral buildings in Germany. This three-aisled basilica was built in 1250 and contains a impressive chancel as well as beautiful stained glass windows, like the \u201eVolkmarische Fenter\u201c. St Lorenz Church is one of Nuremberg\u2018s great Lutheran parish churches.
\nAfter a short walk, you’ll reach the “Sch\u00f6ner Brunnen” (Beautiful Fountain) at the Hauptmarkt (Market Square), one of the city\u2018s most important landmarks. Today, you\u2019ll see a colourful duplicate of the fountain, from 1903 (originally constructed in 1385) made of shell limestone. The forty figurines of the fountain represent the worldview of the Holy Roman Empire on four levels. Two of the eight grid rings can be turned \u2013 the second ring is considered a special lucky charm. Those turning it will be blessed with a large offspring…<\/p>\n

Original N\u00fcrnberger Rostbratw\u00fcrstchen \u2013 Nuremberg Sausages: My lunch tip<\/h3>\n

For lunch you shouldn\u2019t miss out on all those delicious Franconian specialties! The best address for the Original Nuremberg Bratwurst is the “Bratwursth\u00e4usle” at Market Square. Hospitality has a long tradition here: As early as 1313, the famous regional delicacies were grilled on beech wood at the foot of St Sebald Church. What makes them so special? All the sausages are produced in the on-site butcher\u2019s shop according to a home recipe and served on traditional pewter plates.
\nThe two patios with their fantastic views on St Sebald Church, the Town Hall and the Market Square are the perfect spot for an outside lunch. A cool draught beer will make this the ideal Franconian experience.<\/p>\n

An Afternoon Stroll<\/h3>\n

After such a delicious and hearty lunch, you can now take a leisurely stroll up to our city’s most famous landmark: the Nuremberg Castle (N\u00fcrnberger Burg), situated at Vestnertorgraben.\u00a0 This vast complex consists of the Kaiserburg (The Emperor\u2019s Castle) and the Burggrafenburg. In the course of its turbulent history, it served many different purposes \u2013 the castle was a fortification and the Emperor\u2018s residence, an imperial castle and residence of Hohenzollern counts.\u00a0 It is not without a reason that the whole complex ranks among Europe\u2019s most important fortifications, with respect to both history and architecture.\u00a0 The climb is worth it: From up there, you\u2019ll have one of the best views on the whole city! Those still hungry for more sightseeing can visit the attached Kaiserburgmuseum (Museum of the Emperor\u2019s Castle). The 300-square-meter exhibition opened in 1999 and provides a lot of information on the history and the importance of Kaiserburg\u2019s buildings as well as on the development of weapon technology. On a side note, we would also recommend to visit the Germanische Nationalmuseum (in the city centre), one of Europe\u2018s largest and greatest museums, dedicated to the cultural history of German-speaking central Europe, and for those more interested in recent history the Dokumentationszentrum Reichsparteitagsgel\u00e4nde with its permanent exhibition “Fascination and Terror” at the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds (about 15min in tram 9 from city centre).
\nDirectly next to the Castle, Cafe Wanderer will spoil you with great cakes and coffee and you can enjoy the view on the Franconian half-timbered buildings. After that take a stroll back to Nuremberg\u2019s centre where you\u2019ll have a fun time exploring all those boutiques and gift shops.
\nMy very personal tip: At “Lebkuchen Schmidt”, you’ll get those world famous Nuremberg Lebkuchen (gingerbread) in many different varieties!<\/p>\n

My nightlife suggestion<\/h3>\n

Nuremberg\u2019s night-life lives up to its great reputation \u2013 spoil yourself with culinary, cultural and cabaret delights. When the night draws to an end, a visit to Brewery Altstadthof near the castle won\u2019t leave you disappointed – be prepared for a rich cultural, artistic and culinary experience. The theatre at Altstadthof, today regarded as one of Nuremberg\u2018s institutions, was founded in 1983.\u00a0 Today\u2018s cabaret program of the theater in the heart of the city presents itself in a contemporary, high-contrast ambiance emphasizing the charm of the heritage listed complex. Here you can watch performances and exhibitions of regional artists as well as entertainers from all over Germany performing music, cabaret or readings. The on-site brewery will indulge you with original Franconian specialties, organic beer and great dishes.
