Insider tips for Zurich from Hotel Adler Zürich
Sightseeing in a different way
For your sightseeing tour across Zurich, I recommend a very special vehicle: a tuk-tuk with chauffeur as tour guide! During this one-and-a-half-hour ride, you’ll see all the highlights of the city – from the lanes of the historic district to the modern neighborhoods. And after having gained an overview, you can still take, on a walk, a somewhat closer look at your favorite places. For lunch, head to a true institution: Lindt&Sprüngli, a very traditional house with fine biscuits, delicious sandwiches, and ptisserie.
Lake Zurich & Grand Café
One of my favorite sights is not located in the historic district: Lake Zurich. You should absolutely schedule an amount of time for taking a stroll along the lakefront and enjoying the beautiful view. In fair weather, you may even jump in the refreshing water at one of the numerous bathing jetties. For an afternoon coffee, I recommend the Grand Café Odeon at Bellevue, where already Einstein and Goethe liked to stop off. This legendary art nouveau style meeting point was already a film location and looks also back at an eventful history.
An atmospheric epilogue
And given that you are already in the heart of Zurich, you may spend there the evening as well: from here, you may to your heart’s content stroll across the historic center and enjoy a sundowner in one of the numerous bars.
