Insider tips for Vienna from Hotel Am Parkring
Viennese delicacies and cultural pleasure
The perfect commencement of the day
For our guests, a perfect day obviously starts at Hotel am Parkring where they enjoy a first-class and variegated breakfast served high above the roofs of the city of Vienna. Then I suggest them an extended walk across beautiful Old Vienna with its numerous historic sights. Some points of interest are always worth a longer visit – so one should absolutely schedule plenty of time!
Viennese plain cooking: my suggestion for lunch
For lunch, I have two suggestions on hand – depending on individual preferences! Both inns pamper their guests with authentic Viennese cuisine and a unique atmosphere. Those wanting to enjoy good regional plain cooking should pay a visit to Gaststube Pürstner at Riemergasse. Fans of hearty dishes such as “Griessnockerlsuppe”, “Ratsherrenpfanne”, or “Zwiebelrostbraten” will get their money’s worth! Such a hearty menu is perfectly rounded off by an original Viennese Apfelstrudel. Another worthwhile venue is the “Plachutta” at Wollzeile where “Tafelspitz” is at home. The elegant ambiance and first-class meat dishes ensure true culinary delectations.
Delicacies in the afternoon
What would a visit of Austria’s capital be without a rest at a typical Viennese Coffeehouse? My very personal hint: try the pastry named “Buchteln” at tradition-rich Café Hawelka! Until 2005, this sweet yeast pastry with powdered sugar was made by the boss herself. As an alternative, beautiful Café Schwarzenberg invites to a snack. Those in need of a short break in the city don’t have to go far: Neustift am Walde, situated at the outskirts of Vienna, provides idyllic views and a magnificent landscape. Here you’ll find the authentic “Heurigen” taverns to be visited best after a stroll across the vineyards.
The perfect epilogue: enjoyment of art in the evening
Art and culture are highly appreciated in Vienna. Therefore I suggest as a perfect epilogue of a wonderful day a classical musical performance. There is a huge offer – our friendly staff will be pleased to inform you about the day’s program! During summer, art lovers prefer staying outside and visit the Open Air Summer Cinema at Augarten or the Krieau with a spectacular ambiance and movie highlights under the open sky.
