Bike tour across flora & Fauna

After a cozy breakfast at our copious buffet, we recommend our on-site bike rental service for an excursion to the Wahner Heide nature reserve. Within just a few minutes, one reaches this impressing landscape with its manifold biotopes for rare plants and animals. Furthermore, the 50km² large Wahner Heide is not just a nature reserve of European scale but thanks to its well-developed paths also a paradise for bikers (and, of course, wanderers). An optimal starting point for your discovery tour: the Wahner Heide portal at Burg Wissem with its picture book museum, itself worth a visit. For a midday rest in the Wahner Heide, we recommend the atmospheric forest restaurant Heidekönig. Our hint: don’t forget to try the tarte flambée!

Discovering Troisdorf

The afternoon is suitable for a discovery of the town, be it on one’s own with the informative audio guide made available by Troisdorf Tourist Information. The complete tour leads you to 22 history-charged places, passing by plenty of cafés, ice-cream shops, or bistros inviting for a break. But you may also join one of the free guided city tours regularly offered by our city heritage official Anja Moersch – we will be happy to help you with the arrangement!

Dinner in Cologne

For dinner, you absolutely should benefit from the closeness of Cologne: directly at the opposite side of our hotel, there is the railway station from where you directly reach the cathedral city within   20 minutes. There you are in the middle of the action! If you are up for true local atmosphere, you absolutely should pay a visit to one of the typical Kölsch breweries. Our favorite: the particularly authentic “Brauhaus zur Malzmühle” directly at Heumarkt.

Cologne has something to offer for all tastes. Culture lovers go after dinner to the Opera, the Kölner Philharmonie, or the Musical Dome – all in close proximity to the central station. And night revelers will find at the “Cologne Rings“ the suitable club or disco for any taste and any budget.
