Insider tips for Vienna from Hotel Rathaus Wein&Design
Sweet agony of choice
I’m of course glad when our guests start the day with our breakfast from the buffet with regional organic products, free-range eggs, a sweet croissant, and a great selection of cheeses… For those who want, just for a change, another start of the day, I recommend this address: within walking distance from the hotel, there is the urban-modern Café-Bar Erich. Unique breakfast dishes you can also compose yourself, with regional products like in our hotel. You can also come by without a reservation.
My must for noon
My suggestion: spend your noontime at the Museum Quarter – the former imperial court stables offer plenty of both entertainment and culinary delights and have a very particular flair that will take you right back to historical times. And if you are not already there, you will not have to walk more than 15 minutes from your hotel! After lunch, take a pleasant stroll toward the historic center. Passing by the large museums, you’ll finally reach Hofburg Palace with the imperial apartments, the Spanish Riding School, and the chapel where the Vienna Boys’ Choir regularly performs. Via Michaelerplatz, head towards Kohlmarkt – Vienna’s luxury shopping mall – and Graben until finally arriving at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, one of the city’s landmarks. For coffee and cake, there is the Conditorei Sluka at Kärntner Straße.
Calm in the evening
Allow yourself a calm moment at the hotel – here you may commence your evening with an aperitif at the wine bar. Discover, each evening, a different one of our local wine growers! Then pay a visit to “Fromme Helene”, a typical Viennese pub offering delicious classic dishes – it’s just a stone’s throw away. To conclude the evening, I prefer a perfect cocktail at a great inner-city bar. Vienna has obviously more than one perfect places for a sundowner. My first choice: the “Tür 7” not so far from hotel. But also in the city center, there are several particular cocktail bars such as the “Kleinod” at Singerstraße, the Roberto American Bar at Jasomirgottstraße, and many others. At the reception desk, we’ll help you find the suitable venue for you.
