Insider tips for Salzburg from Villa Carlton
Mirabellgarten & Co. – insider tips on the right bank of the river Salzach
Between Mirabellgarten and Salzach banks: my tip for the morning
Under fair weather conditions, you should absolutely pay a visit to Mirabellgarten and Linzergasse at Andräviertel. Mirabellgarten is a unique and marvelous park, a must-see within any proper Salzburg stay! At Linzergasse, you’ll find selected shops with that certain something, differing from the usual offer in the old town in a pleasant way. My very personal tip for breakfast is Café Bazar. There one enjoys an excellent breakfast with a direct view over the Salzach banks.
Lunch at Café Wernbacher
For lunch, I recommend Café Wernbacher in immediate vicinity at Andräviertel. An atmosphere that reminds of the typical Old Vienna coffee house and a variegated clientele ensure your well-being and make the café a place for falling in love! In each detail, one feels the traditional hospitality of this family enterprise. Thanks to its central location, tourists and natives, people of all kinds, are happy together. Beside great coffee and tasty breakfast specialties, there is a daily changing menu offering seasonal delicacies. Ideal for a short intermezzo! If you prefer a longer stay in a relaxed atmosphere you’ll also find the right place to read a newspaper or a book.
Salzburg with a view
Salzburg is surrounded by numerous mountains offering a fantastic view over the whole city. My tip for the afternoon: take the train up to Salzburg’s Fortress which is always worth a visit. Having arrived on the top, you’ll enjoy the probably most beautiful view over the city. From here, you may promenade to “m32”. This stylish restaurant is a real treat for design and architecture lovers. Excellent meals and snacks are also available there.
My regular haunt: Restaurant Triangel
For the evening, I’d suggest to meet up at Restaurant Triangel. This inn captivates me with its cool, relaxed atmosphere – here I like to be a habitué myself! I also like the philosophy of the “Triangel”: regional cuisine, fair and eco-oriented, an open-minded atmosphere. The staff is particularly friendly and meals are always rapidly served.
Salzburg by night: my tips for your evening program
After dinner, one should make a promenade across the nocturnal old town. Then head to the “Republic”, a mix of restaurant, bar, café, and club. The “Republic” scores with great events including concerts and fashion shows, but also with a nice clientele. If you prefer to take some good drinks, I recommend the “Carpe Diem”.
