Insider tips for Nuremberg from Hotel Victoria
Unique walks through Nuremberg – A highlight of the hotel
For me a good day starts with our extraordinary breakfast buffet at the Hotel Victoria. Regional and mediterranean specialities, freshly prepared egg dishes, fresh fruit salad, healthy bircher muesli and a selection of muesli from the local mill – some of them in organic quality – offer pure pleasure. In addition, crisp salads and exquisite coffee specialities.
Our highlight: breakfast tapas in small glasses, always with new ideas, perfectly complemented by fresh smoothies. Enjoy all this on our sun terrace La Terrazza – an oasis of tranquility in the heart of the city! From here, our exclusive walks start. How about “The blooming Nuremberg”? From the sculpture garden to the Neues Museum, it goes to the shopping streets and finally to the flea market. My tip: a cappuccino, a coffee with milk or a prosecco at Di Simo on the Charles Bridge.
Then over the Henkerssteg and the Kettensteg through the old town towards the main market square. A must: turning around the golden ring of the beautiful well.
Lunch – typically Nuremberg
For lunch, I recommend Nuremberg Bratwursthäusle – classic with potato salad or sauerkraut. If you are in a hurry, grab the “3 im Weckla” straight from the grill and enjoy it on your way through the old town.
Marvelous gardens: An Afternoon Walk
Strengthened, we continue on to Tiergärtnertorplatz. If you have picked up your sausages, it is worth a short stop at Café Wanderer, which offers a fantastic view of the city centre. Afterwards, the gardens of the castle complex beckon: Burggarten, Rosengarten and Bürgermeistergarten offer beautiful views and quiet places to linger. For garden lovers, a detour to the Johannis district, where the Baroque garden, the Hesperide gardens and the famous Johannisfriedhof cemetery await you. The perfect conclusion: a visit to Café Schnepperschütz, where you can enjoy the sunset with delicious aperitifs and something to eat.
Culinary diversity: My evening tip
Thanks to the central location of the hotel, you have plenty of options for dinner. Try Padelle D’Italia, where Donato and Antonio will spoil you with authentic Southern Italian cuisine. The wine market has a unique flair and offers owner-managed restaurants with culinary specialties. For the evening, I recommend a visit to the wine market, where you can discover the diversity of the gastronomic scene in interesting places such as the Sebald restaurant, the Mezze Turkish Kitchen & Bar, the Weinbar 075 or the Engelhardts Bio Restaurant. My favourite spot in the Weinmarkt district is the Weißgerbergasse. – a true treasure trove.
Nuremberg at night
At the end of the day, I recommend a visit to the Red Bar, where you are guaranteed to find your favourite drink while the DJ provides the appropriate music. And if you get hungry in between, you will be spoiled with small delicacies in the adjacent “Zeit&Raum” bar.
