Insider tips for Nuremberg from Hotel Victoria
Extraordinary walks through Nuremberg
A special hotel service: creative promenades
In my view, a perfect day must start with a beat-off breakfast buffet at our Hotel Victoria. Regional and Mediterranean specialties, egg dishes including scrambled eggs and sophisticated soft-boiled eggs, fresh fruit salad, healthy Bircher Muesli, a large muesli selection from a regional mill (partly Bio-grade), hearty salad variations, exquisite coffee specialties and much more leave nothing to be desired. To make enjoyment perfect, our hotel offers a particularly atmospheric place: our sun terrace “La Terrazza” at Klarissenplatz – a true oasis of the calm, in the midst of the town center! This is the starting point of our special guest tours. What’s e.g. about a round tour named “Blossoming Nuremberg”? Via sculpture garden and Neues Museum, we reach Nuremberg’s shopping malls and finally Trödelmarkt. My tip: Enjoy at “Di Simo” the special flair of Karlsbrücke over Pegnitz River with a good cappuccino, a white coffee, or a glass of Prosecco. Then we cross Henkersteg and Kettensteg and walk across the winding lanes of Old Nuremberg towards Hauptmarkt and Schöner Brunnen. The legend says turn the ring and your wish will become true.
Lunch – most typical for Nuremberg
My tip for lunch is situated round the corner. Enjoy the very typical Nürnberger Bratwürste either with potatoe salad or sauerkraut in the famous Bratwursthäusle, an ideal place for an atmospheric putting up. Or if you decide time is precious just grab the famous “3 im Weckla” at the grill and enjoy them while walking around the nice spots around the Hauptmarkt.
Marvelous gardens: a round tour in the afternoon
Well satisfied, we pass by the Sebalderplatz and head towards the Tiergärtnertorplatz. Here we put up Café Wanderer where we enjoy a splendid view over Nuremberg’s busy center. My tip for a great round tour: via Tiergärtnertor, you’ll reach the extended park with the beautiful gardens Burggarten, Rosengarten, Bürgermeistergarten, and Heilpflanzengarten. From the bulwark, you will have a spectacular view over Old Nuremberg. Those wanting to experience some more garden treasures should make a side-trip to the district named Johannis with its baroque garden, the Hesperidengärten, and the famous Johannis Cemetery. The way back passing by Hallerwiese leads to Café Schnepperschütz with a wonderful relaxed atmosphere at Pegnitz River. With fair weather, there is no better place for enjoying lovingly prepared delicacies, coffee specialties, and sophisticated aperitifs during sunset.
Meals for any taste: my suggestion for the evening
Thanks to the hotel’s ideal situation, you have plenty of choices – what would you like to enjoy this evening? The sophisticated Italian restaurant round the corner named “Padelle D´Italia” spoils you with natural ingredients and original recipes from southern Italy. The charming hosts Donato and Antonio make any guest feel perfectly at ease. Those demanding highest standards will opt for Restaurant Sebald. With fair weather, you will take place in the heart of Old Nuremberg under the open sky and enjoys the excellent cuisine – probably with a good wine.
Nuremberg by night
For the evening, I recommend you a stay at “Rote Bar”. Anyone will find here his/her very personal favorite drink while a DJ provides the suitable music for a long night. For a snack, pay a visit to the attached “Zeit&Raum” and try their culinary creations.
